AISLYN Allen

31 | Kinney Insurance | Office Manager
Residence: Milton

Career highlight(s): The career highlight I'm most proud of is being initiated onto the board of directors for the Vermont Insurance Agents Association. This board concentrates on supporting our industry through education, professional development, advocacy through legislation.

Community Involvement: My community involvement includes being a local yoga instructor as well as a competitive dance instructor to high students in the genres of jazz, tap, and contemporary. In my free time I enjoy writing cards for the center of donation and transplant to families that have also been through the donation journey.

What motivated you to live and work in Vermont? I moved to Vermont in 2013 shortly after graduating college and chose to stay for a multitude of reasons. The day-to-day encounters were always warm, my work gave me inspiration, the landscape was unfathomably beautiful and I found the love of my life here.

Favorite part of your job: My favorite part of my job is the constant learning experiences I get to partake in. Every single day is different, each client I interact with is unique, and every colleague that I get to collaborate with provides inspiration in its own way.

Most inspiring mentor and why: My most inspiring mentor has been my boss Alan Kinney who is dedicated to my growth and providing real life experiences that help me cultivate an executive skill set.

What is the best career advice you have received? The best career advice I have received is to preserve no matter what hard work will always get you where you want to be. Keep yourself educated, inspired, and motivated.

Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: Few people know that I have a duel citizenship and am Irish as well as American citizen. In my free time I am addicted to self-improvement.

What three words best describe you: Three words that best describe me are dedicated, innovative, and inspired.

Favorite Vermont escape: My favorite Vermont escape is an Airbnb in Lincoln Vermont that is miles from any neighbors and has some hiking trails directly on a pond!

Favorite downtime activity: My favorite downtime activity is teaching competitive dance at Electric Youth Dance Company in Saint Albans.

Favorite Social Media and why: I actually do not have any social media other than LinkedIn as I didn't enjoy the endless scrolling that would take up my time. LinkedIn provides networking and learning opportunities all in one!

If you had unlimited access to funds, which cause(s) would you support: The cause I would support is Center of Donation & Transplant as when my mom passed she was always persistent that it was our responsibility to care for others that needed the organs we could no longer use. I love the idea she was able to give others another shot at life when we couldn't keep her.

What one song is on your playlist that are you embarrassed to tell your best friend? I am never embarrassed about my music selections, I have a wide variety of love from Queen, Abba, musicals, pop, rock, and country. My favorite song of all time is You Make Me Feel So Young by Frank Sinatra.

What career goal(s) would you like to accomplish in the next 5-10 years? The career goals I'd like to accomplish in the next 5-10 years are completing my MBA in April 2022 and working on certifications for both wellness and executive coaching.

How has your job changed since this pandemic? During the pandemic, my job has not changed other than I can work remotely when childcare options are not available.
