Favorite Part of Job? My favorite part of working in the architecture field is engaging in the design process. Every design challenge is unique with countless variables to consider. Designing comprehensive solutions to complex problems is why I go to work in the morning.

Most Inspiring Mentor: My work-study supervisor during college, who taught me to see the potential benefit in every problem.

Favorite Downtime Activity: Bicycling and hiking around Southern Vermont and Western Massachusetts.

Favorite Vermont Escape: Skiing at Mount Snow on a workday (employer approved).

Favorite Social Media: www.archinect.com - An architecture community hub that is extremely useful in keeping current on news, events, and competitions.

Favorite Website: bldgblog.blogspot.com - A blog written by Geoff Manaugh that never fails to expand my perspective on architecture.

Career Highlights: As senior designer at LineSync Architecture (2008-Present), I support the office in graphic design, project management, and team organization. I am an active leader in the emerging design professional community, organizing competitions, exhibits, and discussion groups. I am also a regular participant of local and international architectural competitions, most recently winning first place in the 2012 and 2013 AIA New Hampshire Young Architects Competition and the 2012 Delaware Valley Green Building Council Sustainable Design Competition.

Community Involvement: My community involvement primarily focuses on the emerging design professional community. In addition to organizing monthly architecture discussion groups and annual events, I recently founded a micro-competition called PINarchitecture.blogspot.com. The concept was to create an outlet for young designers who have a desire to exercise design skills and share original ideas. Submissions are both small and digital to give busy designers an opportunity to participate without the time commitment of a standard competition. What started as an effort to engage local designers quickly grew into an international competition that has, as of August, received 135 entries, from 70 cities, in 30 countries. Entries are assessed by a rotating jury of designers, many of whom are emerging professionals in New England. The project is significant because it encourages young designers to engage with a larger community through submitting, judging, and discussing entries.
