ALEXANDRA Clauss

Company: Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC
Title: Attorney/Shareholder
Age: 37

Career Highlights: My practice as an attorney is devoted to advising companies on employment laws and human resources issues. I feel proud whenever my work with a client has a positive impact on that company—whether it is related to workplace fairness,  diversity, innovation, or compliance.

Community Involvement:  In 2017, I cofounded a giving circle called LIFT (Locally Impacting the Future Together).  Our vision is to positively impact the Greater Burlington, Vermont area through collective philanthropy.  We started LIFT to learn more about local non-profits and their needs and to inspire and promote philanthropy.  Through LIFT, we have made inspiring new connections in our community and beyond.  LIFT’s awardees have included Steps to End Domestic Violence’s Children’s Program, Outright Vermont, The Janet S. Munt Family Room, and KidSafe Collaborative.  More information can be found at www.liftgivingcircle.com
In some of my other community involvement, I am a volunteer consultant, trainer, and panelist at the Center for Women & Enterprise – Vermont.  I am also a member of CWE-VT’s Advisory Board.  CWE-VT offers amazing resources to people who are starting and growing their businesses, and it’s exciting and rewarding to meet with Vermont’s many talented entrepreneurs.  I also served on the Leadership Team for the Greater Burlington Women’s Forum for several years.  GBWF hosts inspiring educational and networking events throughout the year.  I am proud that Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC has been the founding business sponsor of GBWF since 2013.

What motivated you to live and work in Vermont?  I was first motivated to live and work in Vermont by my parents, who moved here from Canada when I was young.  I could go on forever listing the best things about Vermont.  There is no place I would rather live and raise my two children.
Favorite part of your job?  My favorite part of my job is the opportunity I get to share my passion for employment law with our local and state-wide community.

What is the best career advice you have received?  The best career advice I have received is to be my authentic self and to find work I feel passionate about.

Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know:  Few people may know:  I have been told I make the best chocolate chip cookies.

Favorite Vermont escape:  I am always up for any adventure on Vermont’s mountains and lakes.  Whatever the activity, it’s best when it ends with a delicious Vermont-brewed beer.

Favorite downtime activity:  What is downtime?
