Career Highlights:
Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Vermont
Vermont Energy Partnership
Community Involvement:
Over the past three years, I have worked outside of my responsibilities as the Government Affairs Director in the realm of politics and policy to expand a local Council of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association into a full fledged Regional Chapter in Central Vermont that has brought together more building industry professionals.
What had been simply a handful of individuals who met twice a year, I have built into a Council with over 150 members that meets monthly (second Thursday evening) for events, speakers, and networking opportunities; is guided by a Steering Committee; offers education classes; and I am proud to say, has started an annual drive to help raise money and food for the Vermont Foodbank.
The Central Vermont region is our fastest growing membership area in the state, and this year marked a turning point, as we opened a regional office in Montpelier. This was all in response to the growth and interest amongst building industry professionals within the Central Vermont region.
Also, for the first time ever, we published, a Central Vermont Builder & Remodelers Guide for the general public that was free, and distributed at various facilities and businesses. This publication was designed to help community members find responsible and legitimate building trades professionals in the region (since the state does not mandate licensing of builders or remodelers it can be difficult for the public to know where to turn, and who to turn to, when in need).
