Eli joined Merritt & Merritt & Moulton in 1999 and became a partner in 2003. The firm provides counsel to emerging growth companies and angel and institutional investors. Eli works with a variety of entrepreneurs and businesses, providing business legal counsel, with a particular emphasis helping early stage companies. From technology start-ups suitable for venture capital to local Vermont businesses pursuing a community supported enterprise model, Eli combines his legal experience with a strong background in finance and accounting to structure business appropriate transactions to help businesses succeed in raising capital. Recently referred to as the “go to guy for creative financing” in Amy Cortese’s recent book, Locavesting, Eli has worked extensively with businesses throughout Vermont and across the East Coast. Some of Eli’s well known client’s include: Aprexis Health Solutions, Claire’s Restaurant, Draker Laboratories, High Mowing Organic Seeds, Hill Farmstead Brewery, Quirky.com, SemiProbe, The Farmhouse Tap and Grill, The Skinny Pancake, Vermont Natural Coatings, VSJF Flexible Capital Fund, and Vermont Smoke and Cure, to name a few. Eli graduated with honors, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado Business School, with a double major in accounting and finance. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Tax Review. He is currently an active member of the Massachusetts and Vermont bar associations.

My mom, Melinda Moulton, who together with her partner Lisa Steele, transformed the Burlington waterfront over the last 30 years.
Who is your living hero?
My dad, who built his own stone house and still skies Tuckerman’s Ravine.

Spending time with my wife and playing with my two amazing daughters, Addison and Taylor, ages 1 and 4, respectively.

Skiing Mad River on a epic powder day.
