Career highlight(s): The career highlight I'm most proud of is managing the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. Being able to participate in  improving food access during the COVID-19  pandemic has been meaningful. 

 

Community Involvement: My community involvement includes running a small berry farm with my husband called Sister Garden in Athens, Vermont. We participate in the West Townshend Farmers' Market and the Putney Winter Market.

I'm also involved in other food and agriculture based organizations including Smokey House Center and Food Connects.

 

What motivated you to live and work in Vermont? I was motivated to live and work in Vermont because I grew up here. After spending some time out of state I knew I wanted to return to Vermont to start my career. 

 

Favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is the people I work with. I'm fortunate to be part of a team full of talented and inspiring people. They make my work fun and push me to ask new questions and try new things. 

 

What is the best career advice you have received? The best career advice I have received is that attitude matters.

 

Favorite Vermont escape: My favorite Vermont escape is nordic skiing!

 

Favorite downtime activity: My favorite downtime activity is trail running with my dogs.

 

Favorite Super Hero and why: My favorite super hero is Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

 

If you had unlimited access to funds, which cause(s) would you support: The cause I would support is Planned Parenthood.

 

Where do you see yourself professionally in the next 5-10 years? In the next 5-10 years I'd like to see myself continue to grow into my new role as Project Manager for the Vermont Foodbank.  

 

What career goal(s) would you like to accomplish in the next 5-10 years?  The career goal I'd like to accomplish in the next 5-10 years is completing my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. 

 

How has your job changed since this pandemic? During the pandemic, my job has changed entirely! I'm now managing the Vermont Foodbank's Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) called Farmers to Families. I have also been charged with managing the Foodbank's $4.7 million Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act appropriation.
