Favorite part of job?
My customers are my favorite part of my job. I share in their victories and I also share in their struggles. I take no greater pleasure than when I can get out and visit with my customers on their turf, meet their employees and see the bank’s money hard at work!
Most inspiring mentor?
Susan Whalen: Sue was the first loan officer I assisted when I started out in banking many years ago. She early on understood what my long term goals were in banking, took me under her wing and very patiently introduced me to the world of a commercial lender. Since that time I have sought her counsel at several professional crossroads. She has been a perpetual voice of reason and has become a great friend.
Who is your living hero?
My living hero is my grandfather, Wayne Bourgeois. He is a veteran of two wars and has dedicated over four decades to the service of his country. Subsequent to his military career he and my grandmother Betty planted an apple orchard in West Swanton VT with the idea of providing a central place that our family could work and play together. His dedication to his military career and to his family are what make him my living hero.
Favorite downtime activity?
My favorite downtime activity is spending time with my family, be it camping at one of the many great Vermont campgrounds, vacationing or a simple movie night at home.
Favorite Vermont Escape?
The Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich Vermont is our favorite VT escape any time of the year thanks to the great exhibits and programs.
Favorite social network?
Linkedin has proven to be a great tool to stay connected to an ever expanding network of professionals. It can also be a handy way to reach out when I’m fundraising.
Favorite website?
vtdigger.org has become my new favorite “go to” site for all things related to VT politics, consumer affairs, business and public policy.
Vermont Business Person you would most want to network with?
The guys from Dealer.com (Mark Bonfigli, Rick Gibbs, Mike Lane, Ryan Dunn, and Jamie LaScolea). Just take a look at the Core Values of their company on their website (my favorite Go Big or Go Home)! Who wouldn’t want to sit down and pick the brains of these guys?
