KATHERINE Partington

Company: Mondo Mediaworks
Title: Director of Accounts
Age: 32

Most Inspiring Mentor: My Mother. She is the first person to show me what female leadership can look like and to encourage me to look past and work beyond the constraints that female bosses can encounter.

Favorite Super Hero: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - she’s a cheerleader who identifies with social outcasts and is gifted with the strength and skills to fight vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness. Obviously just like me.

Person you would like to share a Vermont beverage with: William Shakespeare because I love his plays and should I find myself sitting across from him, I’d be very interested to know how his day is going. Shooting the sh*t should never be underestimated.

If you had unlimited access to funds, which causes would you support: I’d establish a national movement and dance program for all elderly care centers and homes.

What is the best career advice you have received: Cultivate curiosity - open all doors early on in your career and as you grow don’t limit yourself, your opportunities, or your connections.

What motivated you to live and work in Vermont: First of all, Vermont smells amazing. The rest? Mostly everything including the quality of life, community of entrepreneurs, artists, farmers, and more, the distinctly different types of job opportunities, and the ability to walk in the woods daily.

Career Highlights: As a marketing professional at Mondo Mediaworks, I am deeply proud of my work on the Real Rutland campaign designed to attract new residents as well as to celebrate the people and places in Rutland County, Vermont. As an artist residency manager at Vermont Performance Lab, I produced hundreds of residencies and community events that supported over a thousand artists with time, space, and resources to develop new music, theater, film, or dance work that went on to tour nationally and internationally. As a professional dancer, I loved my first job performing at the Guggenheim Museum with Shen Wei Dance Arts in New York City. As a professional actress, I was thrilled to receive the Los Angeles Movie Award for Best Actress in a Made for TV Movie.

Community Involvement: A project very close to my heart is my home - my husband and I are completely restoring, preserving and rebuilding our 1792 Farmstead in Guilford, Vermont - we worked closely with the Guilford Historical society to find old photos and the history of various buildings including a 10,000 square foot barn, farmhouse, carriage house, and former blacksmith shop. We run two successful Airbnb rentals from our property where we promote Vermont-based products and experiences. In addition to bringing tourists to the State of Vermont, we also rent our properties out to much needed workforce housing in our area.

I serve on the Southern Vermont Young Professionals Committee, volunteer at a variety of local events, support small businesses by offering free website development services, and champion independent filmmakers and rural communities through curating films for the national Wandering Reel Film Festival. In addition, I have loved giving back to the Southern Vermont community through dance training and choreography - from volunteering movement classes at the local elderly home Thompson House to choreographing the holiday musical at New England Youth Theatre.
