I also serve on the Vermont Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Board as well as its Pro Bono Committee.
What motivated you to live and work in Vermont? I was motivated to live and work in Vermont by the "small pond" atmosphere that has allowed me to advance my career and begin to serve my community quickly and well.
Favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is the variety of matters that I handle for my clients, and the opportunity to lend a voice to their interests.
What is the best career advice you have received? The best career advice I have received is that while my profession is measured in six-minute, tenth-of-an-hour increments, the most important six-minute increments in life are those spent with family, friends and community.
Favorite Vermont escape: My favorite Vermont escape is Snake Mountain outside of Middlebury - one of the best view vs. effort trade-offs in the State.
Favorite downtime activity: My favorite downtime activity is solving and constructing crossword puzzles.
Where do you see yourself professionally in the next 5-10 years? In the next 5-10 years I'd like to progress to the point where I am spending much of my time collaborating with and mentoring younger attorneys as they handle the day-to-day work of cases.
How has your community service changed since the pandemic? My community service during the pandemic has changed not much at all, except that the organizations I am involved with have had to adapt to continue their missions with limited physical contact. I am pleased to say that in my organizations, we have found ways to continue much of our work without much interruption, albeit sometimes in different formats.
How has your job changed since this pandemic? During the pandemic, my job has changed for the better. My colleagues and I have learned to be more communicative, collaborative, and flexible without having in-person communications to rely on.
