MIKE Cutler

Title: Creative Content Coordinator
Age: 29
Favorite Part of Job: Working for a public access TV station I enjoy working with and interacting with the public that comes through our doors or watching at home. When it comes to freelancing, I get to work with some amazing clients, and seeing the work that comes out those relationships is truly rewarding.
Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: I used to do magic; from middle school through high school, it was very serious. I haven’t done any magic in a long time, and people are asking for a comeback so we shall see!
What three words best describe you: Funny. Caring. Friendly.
What song on your playlist are you ashamed to tell your best friend: I can’t think of a song I would be ashamed of...I only listen to music I enjoy.
Favorite Vermont Escape: I always enjoy exploring Manchester, Vermont, a great town I frequent often.
Favorite Super Hero: Thor. After going to Iceland and learning more of Norse mythology that began there with ‘The Prose Edda’ by Snorri Sturluson.
Person you would like to share a Vermont beverage with: My wife. I can always learn something new or interesting from her! :)
What is the best career advice you have received: Do what you love and the money will follow.
Where do you see yourself professionally in ten years: I would love to be freelancing full time, working with amazing clients.
What else would you like to accomplish in the next 5-10 years: Whatever God has in store for me.
What motivated you to live and work in Vermont: Being born and raised in The Shires of Vermont, it’s always been home. I want to see The Shires thrive as well as Vermont as a whole!
Career Highlights: Working at CAT-TV I was lucky enough to start a show with Matt Harrington of the Bennington Chamber called ‘Bennington Made’. Matt had the idea of filming local businesses, showing how they make local goods. The show was so successful it won two Telly awards, one bronze and one silver. Definitely a proud moment! I’m also lucky enough to freelance with great clients in the area. One in particular is Roadshow by CNET. I film auto reviews for them and it’s a ton of fun! Not to mention, some fantastic cars as well. The most recent perk was going to Jackson Hole to film the new 2019 Chevy Silverado, and my work being on the homepage of CNET.com - trending!
Community Involvement: In the last few years I have been involved with local community theatre’s, from Bennington and Dorset. It has been great to be back onstage making people laugh, cry, and think. From those performances I was lucky enough to be nominated and win two Golden Circle awards from The Dorset Players. The next production I will be involved with will be at Oldcastle Theatre in Bennington on December 7th and 8th.
I’ve also had fun dressing up in colonial garb and calling myself Colonial Man! Going around town and events making sure people are having a good time, give them a laugh or smile, but also making folks aware of our history. Bennington played a big role in the Revolutionary War, but that’s for another time. It is now funny that I’m recognized as Colonial Man around town, and as long as people enjoy him, he will be around.
