Favorite Part of Job: My favorite part of my job is being out on the field or in the gym at my sports programs. I love watching the youth enjoy playing sports and their skill development over the course of a season and from year to year.
Most Inspiring Mentor: My most inspiring mentor is my father. He has instilled in me a love of sports and working with sports programs. He is the reason I am who I am.
Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: Even though I am hard core into the mainstream sports, my favorite athletic activity to partake in is dance. Dancing allows me to escape into my own realm and relieve the stress of the day-to-day world.
Favorite Vermont Escape: My favorite Vermont escape is on a boat on Lake Bomoseen. I have spent many summers out on the lake, spending quality time with my friends plus enjoying a vacation spot in my own backyard.
Favorite downtime activity: My favorite downtime activity is having bon fires with my friends and family.
Favorite Social Media: My favorite social media is Pinterest. I have wasted many hours exploring Pinterest but it has something for my every mood.
What is the best career advice you have received? The best career advice I have received is to stay true to myself and stick with my beliefs no matter how hard it may be.
Where do you see yourself professionally in ten years? Professionally in ten years I still see myself working in the realm of youth sports. There are two directions that I could see myself going in regards to youth sports. One way is to teach youth sports administration at the college level. Going through my undergrad, there really wasn’t much talk about youth sports. Now youth sports are getting bigger in this Country. In order to keep the programs in perspective and the focus on developing all levels of athletes so that everyone is learning and having fun, we need strong administrators in this field. This comes from learning and gaining a strong core of knowledge and experience before you leave the classroom. The other direction that I could see myself going is being a part of a governing body for youth sports. One issue that I see in the youth sports field is that there isn't one set of rules for everyone. The middle school and high school levels have the National Federation of High School sports and in Vermont the Vermont Principals' Association. That is something that is needed at the youth level and is something that I would want to be a part of, so every young athlete in Vermont gets the same chances.
