Favorite Part of Job? When someone tells me I’ve made a difference to them.  A young woman I knew as an acquaintance reach out to me when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Being able to introduce her to other women who had been diagnosed at a young age and were thriving years later, reinforced why I do this work.  Handing over checks for thousands of dollars to deserving organizations isn’t too bad either!

Most Inspiring Mentor: I am fortunate to have many mentors in my life - but in particular, my parents, Bill and Lois Parmelee and my college professor, Dr Nancy Church.  All of them taught me that you can be firm, ask for what you want, all while still being charming.

Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: I was on an all-female dart team when I first moved to Vermont.  We were not very skilled, but had a lot of fun!

Favorite Hobby: Running, reading, and being outside with my husband Tim, and our children.

Favorite Vermont Escape: I have two favorite VT Escapes - my backyard - which is a little oasis in the suburbs, and my in-laws camp on Isle La Motte.  Both are great places to wander around barefoot and enjoy the season!

Favorite Social Media: Facebook.  As a working mom - I have very little time to sit and chat on the phone with my friends, so this is how we all stay in touch.

Favorite Website: www.vtmommies.com (I'm a partner and writer) and www.linkedin.com- a great place to read business articles.

Vermont Business Person you would like to have lunch with:  Nicole Ravelin from PMG.  She has a great job, is an entrepreneur, and seems like a fun person.  All things I look for in a lunch date.

Career Highlights: Every time we sell out, meet a new goal, find a new sponsor, talk to someone who has been impacted by breast cancer, and help to fund a new study or treatment - all highlights.  These are all moments that reinforce why we do this work every year.  In particular, receiving our 501(c)3 designation was a great highlight, leading to our next set of accomplishments as Cocktails Curing Cancer establishes chapters in other cities.

Community Involvement:  I’ve always felt strongly about being active in my community – and hope that my husband and I are successful in demonstrating that to our children.  We are fortunate to live in a very engaged and generous community, with plenty of opportunities to make a difference.  While I have volunteered for a number of local and national organizations – over the past few years, my involvement has been primarily focused on my children’s school and American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, as Committee Member,Co-Chair, and Pacesetter.
