Career highlight(s) you are most proud of:
I am so proud to have developed not one, not two, but three businesses with my best friend, and developed the most amazing 
team of people along the way! It has been so rewarding to have graduated from our first office in the spare bedroom of Markus’ parents’ house to the purchase of our current office location.
Your community involvement:
I’m a board member at Freezing Fun for Families, an organization devoted to helping families battling childhood cancer, and at the Central Vermont Economic Development Corporation.
Inspiration for living and working in Vermont:
Having gone to high school in Barre, I felt passionate about returning to my home state after graduating college in Maine and leaving my mark in some way. I enjoy seeing the fruits of my team’s labor in all the housing units we touch around Vermont.
Favorite part of your job:
Building an amazing team. For the early stages of the business, it required wearing all the hats. I really love empowering my team to be the best they can be and watching them be so successful.
Most inspiring mentor:
My business partner and best friend, Mark Browning. He reminds me on a daily basis of the importance of selfless gestures and enjoying the little moments.
Best career advice you have received:
If you think you can — or you think you can’t — you’re right. Mindset is everything.
Something fun about yourself that few people know:
I’m not good at riding mechanical bulls, and I got engaged in the Scottish Highlands this past summer.
Three words that best describe you:
Hard-working, loyal and motivated.
Favorite Vermont escape:
Anywhere with my fiancée and my dog, Rugby!
Favorite Vermont season:
Fall. I love the colors and sweater weather.
Favorite downtime activity:
Golf. It requires focus, and it’s a great distraction when I need it most.
Favorite social media:
I’m not a huge social media person, but if I had to choose one it would be LinkedIn. I think more often than not the content is more productive than distracting.
Person you would most like to share a Vermont beverage with:
The comedian Bob Marley. I feel like that would turn into some interesting conversation.
Cause(s) you would support if you had unlimited funds:
Any organization that is dedicated to supporting those who struggle with substance abuse. I would also support those organizations that are involved with Alzheimer’s research.

The “Outlander” soundtrack!
Where you see yourself professionally in the next five to 10 years:
Continuing to create jobs for amazing people. Stepping out of my day-to-day roles to concentrate on bigger-picture business decisions, which include the development of a successful private-equity company, Granite City Capital.
Goal(s) you’d like to accomplish in the next five to 10 years:
I would like to have Granite City Capital become the main profit driver of my three businesses and raise $50 million to $100 million in capital.
How your community service has changed since the pandemic:
I think the pandemic has encouraged all of us to find ways to support our community members more.
How your job has changed since the pandemic:
The pandemic allowed me and my team to turn inward and focus on supporting the team members and clients we currently have, while planning for the direction we collectively want to move toward.
