Sarah DaviesCareer Highlights:
Family physician with Central Vermont Medical Center, at Green Mountain Family Practice in Northfield, VT, starting in August 2010.  In 2011, appointed medical director of Norwich Student Health Center. Residency UVM/Fletcher Allen 2007 – 2010, Chief Resident 2009-2010; medical school Georgetown University School of Medicine; undergraduate Johns Hopkins University.

Community Involvement:
Periodic mentorship to medical and premedical students that come to Green Mountain Family Practice. Represent family medicine specialty in the South Burlington High School career fair. Assistant coach for Norwich volleyball team for 2010 and 2011 seasons, ski instructor, camp counselor, ESL (English as a second language) teacher, and residential advisor.  Involved in community of Milton, VT during residency at UVM/Fletcher Allen by presenting health education topics on helmet safety and substance abuse to students; coaching a  “Girls on the Run” 

Favorite part of job? A family doctor has the privilege and responsibility to provide medical care for persons of all ages and of all walks of life.  I’m honored that many members of the Northfield and Norwich community have highly recommended me to their family and friends.

Most inspiring mentor? My family, who has taught me that with hard work, honesty and perseverance, nothing worth achieving is unattainable. 

Who is your living hero? “Everyday heroes” that accomplish what is challenging for them; have infallible optimism and drive

Favorite downtime activity? Skiing, hiking, volleyball, swimming, trail running with my pup.

Favorite Vermont Escape? I enjoy any ski adventure, lift serve or back country, surfing the wave at Jay Peak’s indoor water park.  “Primitive” summer camping on an island in Lake Champlain.

Favorite website? Website I spend the most time on is uptodate.com (summary of updated medical information).  Pandora and Netflix.

Vermont Business Person you would most want to network with? The cooperation of business and medical professionals will be integral to the success of Vermont Health Care Reform.   I hold in high regard a teacher of mine, and member of the Green Mountain Care Board, Allan Ramsey, MD, and have confidence that he will make decisions in the best interest of Vermont patients and health care clinicians alike, with the common goal of providing quality, affordable health care for all.
