SARAH DeGray
Company: REV Indoor Cycling
Title: Founder & CEO
Age: 34
Favorite Part of Job: The best part of my job is interacting with my community on a daily basis with movement and great music. I am so lucky to say I break into song and dance every time I show up for work.
Most Inspiring Mentor: My mentors have always been the ones that take the roads less travelled. They work hard and understand that you only get what you give.
Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: I play the mouth trumpet, but only by request.
What three words best describe you: Active. Positive. Leader.
What song on your playlist are you ashamed to tell your best friend: I’ve never been ashamed that “Gonna Make You Sweat” (Everybody Dance Now) is my favorite track of all time.
Favorite Vermont Escape: Stowe always feels like a great escape from reality.
Favorite Downtime Activity: Seeing Drake in concert as much as I can.
Favorite Super Hero: All women CEOs and women holding public office.
Favorite Social Media: I’m a sucker for Instagram.
Person you would like to share a Vermont beverage with: Sara Blakely (founder and CEO of SPANX) is a hero of mine and I would love to meet her.
If you had unlimited access to funds, which causes would you support: Girls on the Run and Tory Burch Foundation.
What is the best career advice you have received: Success doesn’t come without failure... a lot of failure.
Where do you see yourself professionally in ten years: I cannot even fathom what I will be doing in ten years.. 10 years ago I was in a PhD program thinking I would be in a Political Science department teaching now... the future is unknown.
What else would you like to accomplish in the next 5-10 years: I would love to mentor young women as they navigate entrepreneurship and business ownership as well as increase my philanthropy.
What motivated you to live and work in Vermont: I am a Vermonter, born and raised and I saw great opportunity in shaping the kind of community I wanted to have in a place where I love to live.
Career Highlights: My most significant career achievement has been starting and growing a business from an idea to the largest indoor cycling studio in Vermont. REV Indoor Cycling has been selected as the “Best Cycling Studio” by public vote three years in a row and recently named Vermont’s “Best Boutique Fitness Studio”. We have served over 5500 persons in 6 years in operation and continue to innovate and inspire in the fitness community.
Community Involvement: REV has established itself as a leader in the community when it comes to supporting non-profit causes and organizations throughout Vermont. REV has helped to raise not only awareness about, but thousands of dollars for Vermont school children, cancer survivors, victims of domestic violence, survivors of substance abuse and chronic illness, young adults who are struggling and women trying to get ahead in the workforce. Hosting these events free of charge to organizations is part of my commitment to serving the community and furthering the mission of several different local organizations.
These charity events bring multiple communities together and help forge strong bonds between participants of the event and help to connect donors with recipients.
