- I am the owner of a 12,000-circulation monthly print publication dedicated to human-powered sports, fitness, adventure, and recreation. I also manage our web presence at vtsports.com. My focus is making the outdoors and fitness accessible to everyone, meaning Vermont Sports is for everyone, not just elite athletes. The response I have been receiving has been incredible. Economically, my business supports designers, advertising representatives, and numerous photographers and writers who live in and near Vermont.

In addition, I write the majority of the content for the Country Walkers (Waterbury-based travel company specializing in walking tours) blog at blog.countrywalkers.com.
In 2004 I was named “Rookie of the Year” by the Vermont Press Association.

In late August, through Vermont Sports’ Facebook page, I organized a food and clothing drive for hurricane Irene victims. We collected food, clothing, toiletries, and more, in the Northeast Kingdom and delivered them to the Waterbury Area Food Shelf and the Salvation Army in Barre.
My husband and I have contributed financially to a few causes, including the Memphremagog Ski Touring Foundation, Vermont Brain Injury Association, The NephCure Foundation.
In the coming winter I will be helping with the North Country High School Nordic Ski Team. I will be an informal JV girls' coach, attending their annual pre-season trip to Mount Saint Anne as a chaperone. Last year I served on the board of Rhythm of the Rein, a horseback riding program for people with disabilities. I helped with some fundraising for them.
Favorite part of job?
I get a lot of satisfaction out of transforming ideas into a tangible product. When I see the work of the writers, editors, designers, and ad reps come together in a printed magazine, it feels like magic.
Most inspiring mentor?
Mary Hegarty Nowlan, the editor of Vermont Life magazine.
Who is your living hero?
My mom. She raised three kids, for many years on her own, including a son with severe disabilities. She worked two, sometimes three, jobs, and was committed to us kids having better opportunities than she did. She made sure we had access to art supplies, music lessons, books, museums, sports, and nature.
Favorite downtime activity?
Cooking. I find it very relaxing.
Favorite Vermont Escape?
Skiing the Notch Road (VT 108) when it closes for the winter. I love flying down those S-curves heading back toward the Stowe side.
Favorite social network?
Facebook. It’s a love-hate relationship.
Favorite website?
Google Earth.
Vermont Business Person you would most want to network with?
Bill Stenger, CEO of Jay Peak.
