TESS Gauthier
Favorite Part of Job? I’m a mission driven person, and my work as Project Manager with the UVM Medical Center offers an opportunity to align my personal values with the organization’s goals to improve the health of people in our community. As a relentlessly curious person, the complexity of healthcare challenges me on a daily basis, presenting opportunities to learn each day from incredibly talented people.
Most Inspiring Mentor: It’s a two-way tie between my brother Tyler Gauthier and former colleague Dana Brosig. They help others when there is not a direct benefit to themselves, lead with a strong moral compass, and have an exceptional ability to bring together people with differing opinions to solve problems. We need more people in the world like them!
Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: I’ve been to 29 countries (not including airport layovers).
Favorite Vermont Escape: Boating with my family in the Lake Champlain Islands.
Favorite Super Hero: The thousands of Vermonters who serve our communities as firefighters and EMS personnel. Almost every community in Vermont relies on volunteers each day to respond to emergencies at all hours of the day, in every type of weather condition. Their contributions are heroic and selfless.
Favorite Social Media: Instagram.
Person you would like to share a Vermont beverage with: My grandmother, who taught me the importance of a well-tailored blazer and the neck scarf. She has been my lifelong cheerleader and has a sharp sense of humor.
Career Highlights: I’ve built a rewarding career working with a number of projects that have advanced the well-being of Vermont. Highlights include:
• Collaborating on the implementation of a National Telecommunications Information Administration grant to develop middle-mile fiber optic infrastructure.
• Supporting the Snelling Center for Government as part of the Vermont Digital Economy Project to deploy 25 government websites throughout the state.
• Directing the State of Vermont’s participation in the National Public Safety Broadband Network—the last unmet recommendation of the 911 Commission.
